Happy Birthday, Jill!

“Most  of our friends are dog people. After all, how could you not like someone with a dog? And how could you have a friendship with someone that doesn’t have a dog? Of course, I like dogs more than people.” ~Jill Dyché

What would a photo of Jill be without a little bag o' dog poop? ~Jill

The writing is on the wall

It’s Jill’s birthday today. So in the spirit of Facebook walls and everything social—and on behalf of a few in Jill’s circle—I’m delighted to present Jill’s Birthday Wall: In which her friends come together to sing “Why We Love Jill”: (more…)

Swipe That Blog

August 30, 2011 — 1 Comment

I’ll make this real quick. I switched things up a bit on my blog. If you’re reading this in an email or your feed reader or Facebook, then I invite you to take a moment and check it out.

I’ve moved to a new blog platform (WordPress), and adopted a theme that makes it a bit more fun to share kewl links, quotes and videos. And yes, I still have a queue of stuff I plan to write about – so stay tuned on that front. If you have a smartphone or an iPad, the format of my blog may give you the urge to swipe your monitor to scroll right and left. Or not. I’m a geek. I know.

That’s it. Click around. Let me know what you think.

This is hands-down one of my all-time favorite videos. The music and lyrics are invigorating. The healthcare workers are beyond kewl. And the breast cancer survivors are where it’s at!

Be sure to watch the video in full-screen HD and turn up those speakers.

About You: Fred Schapelhouman [day 19]

fred-schapelhouman

It’s Friday, and that’s when I like to focus on some of the awesome people I know. Today, it’s Fred Schapelhouman, founder and president of CFO Plus, Inc. He’s also the husband of my very good friend, Henriët (whom I’ve also written about here and here).

Back in the day, we shared a wall

I met Fred back in 2001 at Aris Corporation (four years before I met Henriët). He moved into the CFO’s corner office, which was right in the middle of Aris’ Geek Headquarters. He managed the corporate finances and I managed the team responsible for our corporate data, applications and website. (more…)

If you’ve chatted with me in person the last couple of years, you probably haven’t escaped listening to me talk about Semper Vita. And Drupal. I can already see some of you smiling and nodding your heads. You know.

In fact, one such discussion was at the end of March with some of my Noetix friends – Julia, Shannon and Kelly. This one cracked me up. They were all in town for a customer meeting. Julia and I had just finished dinner, so we headed back to her hotel, and that’s where we met up with Shannon and Kelly. (more…)

Happy Birthday and Mother’s Day, Mom! [day 5]

May 7, 2010 — 1 Comment

When I’m giving this blog the love and attention it deserves, I like to set aside my Friday posts to talk about my family and friends. Today, it’s all about my mom – mostly because it was her birthday yesterday and it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday and just ‘cuz I can. :)

Who’s that?

I’ve included the picture of my mom that I have sitting on top of my entertainment armoire. This photo always makes me smile – sometimes laugh out loud – when I recall seeing it for the first time. (more…)
